After a long hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic, New York is opening its Spring/Summer 2022 Fashion Week with the return of in-person runway shows featuring big names like Tom Ford and Altuzarra. 

But Covid-related curbs will deprive the series of some of its usual international flavor as it rolls out this week.

The pandemic overshadowed the last two fashion weeks, in September 2020 and February 2021, as both were dominated by virtual runway shows.

What to Expect at New York Fashion Week Spring 2022

New York Fashion Week is making its return next month with a slew of fashion shows, presentations and events.

The upcoming spring 2022 season will be the first in-person fashion week since February 2020, as the pandemic has forced the biannual event to go digital with livestreams and look books taking the place of the traditional live fashion show.

Milan designers hit reset button during digital fashion week

MILAN (AP) — Fashion is off the hamster wheel, taking a deep breath that is allowing some freshness to seep into the once relentless cycle.

“It is so weird thinking about fashion, and the kind of hamster wheel of fashion, and how we never had a break and always complained about it,’’ Marc Jacobs said during a Milan Fashion Week video chat with Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons post-digital show. “And then you get a break, and you complain.”
